humbling

I once again was in on a humbling experience through those large doors at SCR-1. We had preschool screening today and well, yes we got to enjoy all varieties of children, but there is always some that tug at your heart, no matter how well you know him/her/or them. I was almost finished with the day and yes it was 3:00 if not later and yes my mouth was tired from talking and my bottom was sore from sitting (i didn't know i could talk to much and i never sit for more than 20 minutes at a time) I was talking to a parent about a troubled child and yes the family doesn't have much either that I know of. The other adults done with screening were giving away some of the snacks we had brought, to empty the food room. So here is the story:
The little girls says, "mom, can I have some pizza?"
Mom replies, " I don't have any."
Little girl, "Can I go ask that lady?", Mom replies, "yes you may." Mrs. Bish involves herself and says "yes go ask that lady"- meanwhile I turn around with my loud outside teacher voice and holler " Mrs. %&#$@$, *&%$@# has something to ask you."
The little girl asked the soft hearted helpful teacher if she could have a piece of pizza and of course she gets her a piece! Also since there were 6 whole pizzas left, she also gives the girl a pizza to take to her mommy.
The mom says, " oh that was very nice." I continue the exit and they put their coats on to leave! I may have that child in my room next year, and I may not, they may still be at SCR-1 and they may not.

It is sometimes sad to see what choices the little minds we teach have to deal with. It wasn't the girls fault she was hungry, it wasn't the girls fault her mom has mad a bad choice in past life.

I get ready to go home and talk a little more about this family, and the more I found out about 2:00 when they came, the little girl had told this same soft hearted, loving teacher that she hadn't had lunch, therefore what were the chances of her having supper?

It is amazing to think of all the things we have, that other don't.

  1. How does the story go? "And that you do for the least of men, you do for me", Jesus said. You should always help others when you get the chance. It makes you feel better about yourself also. Love MOM
